CompUSA is testing custom PC centers in some stores, allowing
customers to buy built-to-order products. Pitt said he believes CompUSA eventually may outsource that service to Ingram Micro as well.

"CompUSA doesn't want to keep inventory on site," he said. "They'll have guys in there to talk to the customer about what he wants. They'll have targeted salespeople rather than assembly people. They'll have a kiosk. You type in what your order looks like and Ingram [Micro] drop-ships to the customer. My bet is that's the way the business is going to go."
