ATMI's ADCS Subsidiary Files Suit Against Air Products; Alleges Infringement on Five Chemical Equipment Patents

AUSTIN, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 12, 1999--ADCS, Ltd., a subsidiary of ATMI, Inc. (Nasdaq: ATMI) and a leading supplier of high purity materials to the semiconductor manufacturing industry, announced today that it has filed a lawsuit against Air Products and Chemicals, Inc., in the United States District Court for the Western District of Texas (Austin Division). The lawsuit alleges that Air Products' Schumacher division knowingly infringed on five of ADCS's patents, including United States Patent Numbers 5,465,766; 5,562,132; 5,607,002; 5,711,354; and 5,878,793. These patents cover ADCS's high purity chemical refill and delivery systems technologies.

Siegele, President and CEO of ADCS, Ltd. -- and co-inventor of the patents -- stated, "ADCS is a leader and innovator in providing the semiconductor manufacturing industry with high purity materials and their associated delivery systems, as evidenced by its over 800 delivery systems in use.
