A company spokesperson told me that the Advantage 2000 will run on Wind River Systems' VxWorks, part of their Tornado II embedded development platform for Unix and Windows-based hosts. I'll describe it in detail when I get my hands on one, but if you're interested in technical details now, I recommend you check out Wind River's Web site. CMI told be they'll use Spyglass's Mosaic 3.2 Web browser. More details will be available as the release date nears.
The Advantage 2000 will come in two versions, a standalone portable model with built-in monitor, or a flip-down, under-counter unit with a 12-inch LCD flat panel. Prices haven't been finalized, but expect the Advantage 2000 to cost under $1,000 and be available in the fourth quarter … just in time for the holiday rush
