I've tracked some of his movements and the projects he's funded, hoping to see something seismic take place, but most of what I'm seeing is lateral movement of another kind, relatively close to maintaining a status quo with only superficially incremental improvements in this space. I don't see anything resembling the crust of the earth shifting there, though, as would be the case if he funded an all optical distribution scheme somewhere. He's had the opportunity to address this kind of thing, but seems equally satisfied to pursue the HFC model in his new holdings in this space.
He's doing a lot of things, some of which are entirely self indulging (in the way of embellishing his home town with a high tech facade, which ain't all bad) but nothing that I could readily assign to moving to the next plateau. Maybe I'm missing something obvious, but that's how I see it. Comments and corrections always welcome.
