Edward Chancellor is trying to drive forward by looking in the rearview mirror. You don't make much progress driving that way, but it seems he is so afraid of crashing that he would rather be inert than take the risk of momentum.

Harry Dent paints a truer picture of what is ahead. When the baby boomers all retire, then we will see the huge slowdown. This is not mania driving the stock market,it is demographics. Everybody is piling their money in at once. I don't look for them to start taking their money out of the market until around 2008.

The GM verdict is not any sort of catalyst. The verdict will probably be overturned. The jury was not told the crash was caused by a drunk driver going 70 mph. Gas tank or no gas tank, that is likely to cause serious injury. The jury should have had the whole picture.
