Airing tonight on PBS... The Battle For Titanic This one-hour program tells the story of the Titanic's wreck, discovered in 1985 by Commander Robert Ballard two-and-a-half miles beneath the icy waters of the Atlantic. Viewers meet the Titanic enthusiasts, deep-sea explorers and fortune hunters who have fought over the fate of the most famous ship since Noah's Ark. The program charts the roller-coaster fortunes of the company that first salvaged the Titanic's treasures and secured exclusive rights over the wreck. The special also explores the worldwide controversy over the famous wreck's future.
