whew, glad to see that was not what you meant.

Jesus came in fullfillment of the scriptures... etc...

I would note that while Jesus preached and interpretted the scriptures he never said that the happenings within were real, and in fact often spoke in parables to ILLUSTRATE what he meant. We KNOW FOR A FACT that not all of the Bible stories are factual. That being the case, all I was injecting was that the ones largely based in fact had quite possibly been imbellished before or while they were being written down. Some would argue that the Jewish people were very careful, but how then would you explain the books that were not factual? They liked the stories so they went into the Bible. Adding to that would be why they liked the stories and what motivated specific stories to be told and retold. Lets not be niave and believe that everything written in scripture was only because "God" said so. A bit of it went in to help control the peoples of Abraham. The whole book of Job (my favorite from OT) is dedicated to showing one what can befall an honest man and how, through faith, they can be redeemed in the end. The fact that it was most likely written by three seperate people at three seperate times indicates that it was not one book divinely inspired immediately by God. In the middle it shows an author who thinks that the person brought bad tidings upon themself, however they may object to this idea. But in the end it shows that through faith all can be restored. The last bit was either written by an optimist or someone who wanted to say to the people "do not loose your faith no matter what". The first and second parts however simply make a play for evils existance and then for man bringing evil upon himself.
REGARDLESS - the fact remains that Job probably did not write the book of Job. So how can one say that this sad tale of woe is any more divinely inspired than the movie "Trading Places" except for the verse. They both are "good" stories, one was to control people's actions and the latter (trading places) is simply to entertain and deaden the mind...
