Here's a remark from Sentinel on the Raging Bull board--comments anyone?:
"I would go for it simply because the rest of the investment community probably has no idea there is a difference between MP3 and the products from Liquid Audio. Right now MP3 has super brand recognition, but its days are numbered. Tomorrow (at least according to their spokesperson) the SDMI (Secured Digital Music Initiative) will be putting out specifications for future formats. MP3 will be supported until what they call "Phase 2", after which, hand held players will not play them. There is a tremendous library of music out there is MP3 format, but the record labels and major artists will stop using that format because they cannot control the royalty situation with it. Thus, it is doomed to eventual mediocrity (there will always be *some* level of musician who will use it, but not the greedy ones!). But until that happens, the MP3 IPO should fly at least as well as Liquid Audio, if not more due to brand recognition. Get it if you can, but it should not be a long term holding! Just MHO, and I only draw pictures for a living, so what the heck do I know?? ;-) " |
