PRI Announces New 300mm Loadport Design Provides Up To $4 Million in 300mm Fab Savings
BILLERICA, Mass., July 12 /PRNewswire/ -- PRI Automation, Inc. (Nasdaq: PRIA - news), the leader in semiconductor factory automation, today announced a new low cost 300mm loadport product, the SFO-1000. This loadport is significantly different in that it utilizes the robot, which is already a standard part of every tool front end, to provide all motion necessary to safely unlock and remove the 300mm wafer carrier door. By doing this, the new design changes the loadport front end paradigm and eliminates the costly pod door opener (PDO).
''Typical 300mm fabs will use up to 400 loadports'', said Craig Chidlow, director of product marketing for PRI's OEM Systems. ''This new design combines the precise motion for both the door removal and wafer transfer in a single integrated front-end (IFE). This is the reason the cost for the SFO-1000 is fifty percent less than previous designs which accomplished both tasks. This design innovation will directly improve the end customer's cost of ownership.''
PRI will have a new fully functional IFE with four SFO-1000 loadports on display at Semicon West. The new complete IFE system addresses all current SEMI standards along with end user mini-environment specifications. The loadports also comply with standards set by SEMI when looking outward from the loadport into the factory. PRI has numerous patents pending on the complete Integrated Front-End (IFE) system.
