If lots of people are using an ignore feature, it will change the nature of SI discussion forums in unpredictable ways. There will be more miscommunication. There may be less policing by SI members, so
the overall quality of SI will go down... "just hit the ignore button."

I agree, that is my worst fear regarding an ignore feature. I use browsemaster and I find that the ability to simply scroll on past posts that are uninteresting is just as good or better as an ignore button.
