alan, i couldn't resist going in there and getting rid of that darn loadwc. while i was in startup manager, i also found icq was running and i thought i'd 86'd that over a year ago. also shut down stb vision, which often causes conflicts anyway. i turn norton crashguard off manually after startup. i actually get a more stable system with crashguard closed. but i don't want to remove it from startup. it worked perfectly. this freeware is a cool utility. i couldn't be happier about having startup manager as a part of my system now. thanks for the heads up! :) mark
