Excellent phrase, "the tones of speech". The tones do often times matter more than the words themselves. You have given me food for thought jpmac. Thanks.

I've been reading a book lately entitled "Systems Thinking" and he describes these organizational nuances of language as "context". I like the image of "tones" better.
