The business model for the semiconductor business sucks.


I agree the ideas are a bit scary. But, they must see some need for the cash coming up. And that amount suggests significant capital outlay. Because their existing business appears to be self-funding at this point.

As for the semicon business--it was just a thought. And i don't really give the idea any credence. But, some sides of the business are currently pretty hot. And Q has shown that the can compete in a very competitive market (cellphones). Question: What area would dovetail with Q's next step? I threw out asics because they are a key part of the phone and of next-generation development. Does developing a manufacturing capacity in the part help in developing design?

(PS--I hope I'm not mixing things up here. It is two AM! Can someone confirm that Q does not in fact manufacure their asics, and instead contracts out to Level 3?)

Or, here's a thought: China agrees to buy 100 million CDMA phones if Q will build them in China. The money is for the China plant!
