Macromedia acquires Elemental

Macromedia (MACR: news, msgs) said it'll spend $24 million in stock to acquire privately held Elemental Software. The acquisition is expected to add features to Macromedia's Web design software. Chief executive Rob Burgess said in an interview that the acquisition will not change earnings in the current fiscal year, and will add $10 million in sales in the coming fiscal year. Analysts expect the San Francisco-based company to do about $200 million in sales in the next fiscal year, an increase of about 33 percent. Macromedia stock gained 1 7/8 to 38 15/16.
