ICG, Qwest Sign Long-Term Agreement for Advanced ISP Services

ENGLEWOOD, Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 13, 1999--ICG
Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ:ICGX) today announced that Qwest
Communications International Inc. (NASDAQ:QWST) will purchase in
excess of 100,000 ports of ICG's Remote Access Service (RAS), an
integrated network solution that combines the telephone line,
switching and modem functionality with network management.
Under terms of the five-year agreement, ICG will install at least
80,000 new RAS ports for Qwest on ICG's nationwide network by the end
of 1999, with the remaining 20,000 ports to be installed by the end of
the second quarter of 2000. ICG's nationwide network includes 236
points of presence in the United States, serving approximately 700
cities.
"Qwest is a great company that has in-depth knowledge of the
needs of the growing Internet industry. Their decision to use ICG's
RAS product strengthens both companies' service offerings and
capabilities," said John Kane, president and chief operating officer
of ICG. "We are encouraged by the strong interest exhibited by
companies such as Qwest, for ICG's advanced Internet network
services."
In addition, ICG and Qwest have signed two long-term network
agreements. In one, ICG will lease more than 7,600 miles of long-haul
fiber capacity from Qwest over a multi-year period, an agreement that
will increase the speed and national presence of ICG's long-haul data
network. Under the second agreement, Qwest acquired certain special
access facilities from ICG, also under a long-term capacity lease
agreement.
