Datametrics Systems Corporation Joins SAN Management FibreAlliance

Datametrics' ViewPoint Positioned to Lead in Standards-Based SAN Performance Management

FAIRFAX, Va., July 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Datametrics© Systems Corporation, a subsidiary of Zitel Corporation (Nasdaq: ZITL - news), has joined The FibreAlliance (www.fibrealliance.org), an open association of Fibre Channel vendors accelerating the cooperative development of standards for managing storage area networks (SANs). Datametrics joins 21 other leading providers of SAN components and services to speed the widespread implementation of interoperable SAN management solutions.

``Datametrics is joining the FibreAlliance to help shape the future of SAN management standards,' said David Freund, Vice President of Marketing for Datametrics. He continued, ``We are the first vendor in the FibreAlliance to focus exclusively on maximizing the performance of SANs and look forward to participating in standards development with this focus. Our goal is to deliver cutting-edge performance management solutions to the emerging SAN marketplace that work seamlessly with other SAN management solutions. Datametrics' ViewPoint© product suite is ideally suited to fulfill this goal.'

``The emergence of a standards-based, integrated framework for SAN management is key to the ability of enterprises in every industry sector to realize the promise of SAN technology,' said Don Swatik, Vice President of Product Management for EMC Corporation (NYSE: EMC - news), which sponsors the FibreAlliance. ``The participation of a leading performance management provider such as Datametrics will help customers realize the benefits of SAN implementation in the shorter timeframes typical of today's highly competitive markets.'

The FibreAlliance is working closely with the Storage Networking Industry Association (SNIA) and other industry groups to develop and promote SAN standards for the benefit of customers and Fibre Channel suppliers. Datametrics is also a member of SNIA.

About The FibreAlliance

Efficient management of the heterogeneous components of a typical SAN is extremely challenging. Only through the delivery of standardized SAN management software will organizations have the opportunity to realize the full business potential of SAN technology.

To address the critical need for open standards, leading industry vendors formed the FibreAlliance to develop a specification describing a framework for creating integrated management environments, ensuring product interoperability, and developing a common product interface for enterprise SAN customers.

Members of the FibreAlliance include Ancor Communications, Inc., ATTO Technology, Inc., Crossroads Systems, Inc., Datametrics Systems Corporation, EMC Corporation, Emulex Corporation, Gadzoox Networks, G2 Networks, Inc., the OpenView Business Unit and Enterprise Storage Business Unit of Hewlett-Packard Company, Interphase Corporation, JNI, Legato Systems, Inc., McDATA Corporation, Prisa Networks, Inc., QLogic Corporation, Sequent Computer Systems, Inc., Siemens ICP Computer Systems, the Storage Management Division of Sterling Software, Inc., Storage Networks, Inc., Transoft Networks, Inc., VERITAS Software Corporation, and Vixel Corporation.
