Kap,

<German computer magazine c't reports that AMD's Fab 30 in Dresden has been producing the first prototype K6 cores using copper interconnect technology. >

This has been rumored for some time now and this is just about the only thing that I am aware that AMD can do prolong the K6 family (the K6-3 is rumored to be reincarnated at Aleron to form the low-end to mid-range of AMD offerings). AMD faces a capacity mismatch (between fab and test/assembly) if they turn all their production to K7. A volume runner like K6 will help ease the mismatch and use their resources better but this doesn't make economic sense currently because of the ASPs they are getting for the current K6 family speed grades.

I wish them luck on Cu but the rumor mill on the Dreseden process ramp has been mixed of late. I am strongly in the "show me" camp on this one.
