Post says Canadian 88 gets approval for project

The Financial Post reports in its Tuesday edition that Canadian 88 Energy
has received regulatory approval to drill a controversial sour gas well in
a scenic acreage community northwest of Calgary. Reporter Claudia Cattaneo
says the approval is conditional on the natural gas producer satisfying a
set of "stringent" and "exceptional pre-conditions," including proving its
public relations. In a decision expected to set a precedent over how much
oil and gas development will be allowed near populated areas, the Alberta
Energy and Utilities Board ruled on Monday that the risks associated with
the well are "well representative of normal industrial risks accepted by
society," and concluded it can be drilled safely. The site is 11 kilometres
northwest of Calgary, near the suburban enclave of Bearspaw, on the fringe
of Alberta's natural gas rich Foothills corridor. More than one-third of
Alberta's natural gas is sour, so named because of its content of hydrogen
sulphide, which smells like rotten eggs.

I don't know if it is the STF property or not. Can't recall who the participants in the well were but at least it indicates a willingness to rule against the people in the area by the Board.
