James,

As opposed to Emile's reaction to Sam's post(we know what it is--he'll just pretend it doesn't exist) I am more interestd in what people who believe in literal translation think of the post. Taken at face value, it does seem to me that it makes literal translation rather difficult.

Personally, I have no problem if someone does or doesn't believe in literal translation. I figure it is a personal choice and best left to the individual. I am very interested in why people choose to believe in whatever it is they choose to believe in. In this case, I wonder if Sam's post gives pause to any who do choose to believe in literal translation.

Any comments from those who consider themselves to be a "literalist", would be greatly appreciated. I don't care if you respond publicly or via private message.

Mark
