Testing Info: Just a little by: TradeMachine (99/M/Hells Kitchen) 7920 of 7924 I had access to the phone again this past weekend. However since it was a holiday it didnt get used much. The phone contiues to work great and sound is awsome. Perhaps the techys can fill me in on this. While the sound is curiously good, at times better than my QPhone. Will this deteriorate with a larger number users? I made a 30 minute call, I know some switching must have gone on, I didnt notice. Will that be an issue with more users?
Re-capping for newbys: I have been fortunate to test the phone though a friendly trial. The phone has worked great through out my use. Initially there were gaps in service because of the lack of sats, but that has changed. I have been able to see the product packaging, the box, manual, leather case car antenna etc. All of this is ready to go. We all know that sometime in July advertising should start and the September roll out is looking great! While the techys will dispute its use in some locations like the ocean and others will argue the cost for long distance, and claim because Iridium failed they will too. Iridium failed because they marketed a $6,000 phone and $6 per minute. The rich didnt buy it because it didnt make sense. The business world tried but it didnt live up to expectations. Now they are lowering price based on G* expectation of price. The buying public is now waiting until G* is out to see what the new kid has to offer. They have partnerd with Qualcomm, Erricson and Airtouch and others. Offering a superior distribution channel with retail outlets. Something I* lacked and still lacks. The future relations with global communications for G* is huge, beyound Satellite phones. The world will have many options for worl phone use and Sat is among them. G* will provide the format with Qualcomm and Erricson for the future.
Not to mention the funding that Loral has secured. If your an investor just for the dollars and not the long haul. Look at the names, Qualcomm, Erricson, Loral, Airtouch. I would say thats a powerful group of names!
No, I dont work for Qualcomm or Globalstar, I am not even in the Telcom industry. Just a guy who travels A LOT and happend to know the right person at the right time to do test the phone.
Cant wait to see how high this will go next year!
