Toshiba Adds Two New Satellite Notebooks with Latest Intel Processors and DVD Starting at $2,399

IRVINE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 12, 1999--The Computer Systems Division (CSD) of Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc. (TAIS) today broke performance and value barriers with the Satellite 4100XDVD and 4090XDVD.

Combining the new Intel® 400MHz Mobile Pentium® II or 400MHz Mobile Celeron(TM) processors with the multimedia functionality of DVD-ROM, the Satellite 4100XDVD and 4090XDVD are ideal for small- to medium-sized businesses and corporations purchasing notebooks on a project basis.

With these introductions, Toshiba is uniquely positioned to meet the needs of a wide range of budget-conscious customers, offering the broadest range of value-priced notebooks in the industry. The Satellite 4100XDVD and 4090XDVD complement the Satellite 2000 and 2500 series, which provide individual customers such as students and home office users a notebook perfect for mainstream computing applications (see today's 2060CDS and 2595 series announcements).

Providing the highest performance available in an affordably-priced notebook, the Satellite 4100XDVD offers Intel's fastest 400MHz Mobile Pentium II processor, while the Satellite 4090XDVD delivers the 400MHz Mobile Celeron processor. Well suited for demanding multimedia and communication requirements, both Satellite notebooks feature a brilliant 14.1-inch active matrix display, 6.4 billion byte hard drive, 64MB SDRAM (expandable to 192MB) and integrated V.90/K56flex modem.

With the integration of DVD-ROM, the Satellite 4100XDVD and 4090XDVD offer a number of multimedia advantages to mobile customers, including full-motion video for enhanced presentations, seven times the data capacity of a single CD-ROM and complete backward compatibility with existing CD media.
