US Marketing Update: TRU*SERV (formerly True Value), THE NATION'S LARGEST HARDWARE COOPERATIVE, TO MARKET THE SENCO LINE OF PRODUCTS
VANCOUVER - Senco Sensors Inc. (SSZ.V) announced today that it has expanded its presence in the US hardware market by becoming an approved vendor for the TRU*SERV family of hardware stores and home centers. As an approved vendor with TRU*SERV (formerly True Value), the Senco line of carbon monoxide (CO) alarms will be marketed to approximately 10,500 individually owned hardware stores and home centers across the United States during this fall/winter heating season.
In 1997 TRU*SERV was formed when the True Value hardware stores and home centers merged with the ServiStar and Coast to Coast hardware retailers to create a cooperative with over 10,500 hardware stores and home centers worldwide. True Value has been a major leader in the hardware industry for over 100 years. The merger into the TRU*SERV family further enhanced its industry experience and dominance in its sheer strength in numbers.
TRU*SERV is not only a Fortune 500 Company, but also the nation's largest hardware cooperative with 14 billion dollars in retail sales. Each independently-owned TRU*SERV retailer not only has the advantage of offering the product selection and prices of the larger stores, but the friendly neighborly approach to service which the customers have come to expect.
Senco Sensors, as an approved vendor, will be marketing their top of the line Model ONE CO alarm as well as their new, non-digital readout Model 2002 (planned to be released this year once UL approval has been obtained). The addition of this CO alarm will give Senco Sensors another SKU, which greatly enhances their product line. The Model 2002 combines key features and performance of the highly reputed Model ONE, including the unique ability to quickly, manually test the sensor and electronics by exposure to a known source of CO, at a more economical price point.
Both of Senco's CO alarms feature the ability to detect dangerous prolonged low-levels of CO as well as the deadly high-levels. Medical research shows that prolonged low levels of CO can cause serious health problems, especially among vulnerable groups such as infants and the elderly. In one study in the journal Annals of Emergency Medicine, as reported in the January 1998 edition of Popular Science, close to one in four individuals suffering from flu-like symptoms, was actually suffering from CO poisoning. Senco's low-level detection capability will alert families to potential problems from this silent, invisible, odorless killer. Senco Sensors Inc. is dedicated to becoming a major manufacturer of high quality residential carbon monoxide detectors.
