LOS ANGELES, July 13 /PRNewswire/ -- National Lampoon, a wholly-owned subsidiary of J2 Communications (Nasdaq: JTWO) today announced the appointment of Scott Rubin, veteran comedy writer, as Editor of NationalLampoon.com -- an online comedy network set to launch in the Fall. In addition to overseeing creative direction and original content for the site, Scott has gathered some of the hottest talent in the industry as part of his team of writers, performers and animators.
Rubin brings a broad background in comedy writing and interactive development to NationalLampoon.com. His material has appeared on "The Tonight Show," "Late Night with David Letterman," and MTV. In addition, Rubin has worked closely with Gary Shandling in developing standup routines, has written and co-produced on CBS's "Midnight Hour" comedy/variety show, and served as a Comedy Consultant on Columbia Pictures' feature "Punchline." Rubin also was editor-in-chief and founder of the critically acclaimed Laff Track magazine.
Along with his comedy writing experience, Rubin is an award-winning software designer. With more than 20 games and activities to his credit, his work at Electronic Arts earned him an Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences Award for Design.
"I'm looking forward to carrying on the proud tradition of biting satire and devastating parody established by our founding editors, Doug Kinney and Henry Beard," says Rubin. "The Web offers us the opportunity to raise the bar established by these comedy greats and I look forward to helping create the edgiest, most over-the-top site in cyberspace."
"We are thrilled to welcome Scott to our team," said Jim Jimirro, CEO and President of J2 Communications. "Scott's comedic expertise combined with his vision for the future of interactive entertainment makes him one of NationalLampoon.com's greatest assets."
