He understood some of the fear
Claire suffered inside that nowhere place. Way back, in the tiny
bedroom of his childhood, curtains lit by the moon, he saw faces
in the fabric, features uttering icy jeers. And when his eyes closed, he saw all sorts of curtains flap in the open windows across town, catching fire from flames in children's hands.
