Ted W., There are many companies with headquarters in Mountain View. The one that Id really want to spend time with STK would be SUNW.

Here is a news pr from JNI.......From June....Jaycor/JNI's claim to fame is the S-bus FC HBA. SUNW uses the S-bus. But SUNW has it's own FC storage so why would they spend 2-Q in Louisville? How am I doing Ted W. ? Do you still think that there is tremendous upside for STK? Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

I'm new to STK having purchased my first shares last wk. Why?
Because of FC/SANs and that SKT looks like it may be a real way to profit from the internet with companies that have very low PE's.
The affordable way to play the internet!

SAN DIEGO and LOUISVILLE, Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 28, 1999-- JNI(TM) (Jaycor Networks Inc.) and StorageTek(TM) (Storage Technology Corp.) (NYSE:STK) Monday announced an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) agreement that integrates the JNI FibreStar SBus-to-Fibre Channel host bus adapter cards into StorageTek's SANaps(TM) suites, turn-key storage area network (SAN) solutions.
The first release of SANaps, LANfree(TM) Backup solution, will be for Sun Microsystems(R) Solaris servers, with AIX, HP-UX and Windows NT solutions to follow.
StorageTek's SANaps solution suites are designed to solve customers' pressing storage management problems incorporating certified hardware, software, professional services and support. StorageTek's LANfree(TM) Backup, the first suite available, brings to customers a completely open, high-performance SAN centric backup solution engineered to share tape devices between multiple servers.
Future SANaps will focus on sharing disk subsystems as well as extended storage environments.
The JNI FibreStar family of SBus and PCI host bus adapters (HBAs) are high-speed, high-reliability Fibre Channel adapters designed to connect mission-critical servers to Fibre Channel-standard SANs.
Under the agreement, StorageTek will bundle JNI's HBA with LANfree Backup, assuring customers certified high-speed, high-availability connectivity with StorageTek's open systems tape, disk and REELbackup(TM) software.
"JNI's proven history of providing Fibre Channel connectivity products for enterprise applications, especially in the Sun market, made our adapter cards the logical choice for StorageTek's SANaps turn-key application suites," said Scott Ruple, vice president of marketing for JNI.
"Furthermore, StorageTek is leading the industry in providing certified, turn-key Fibre Channel SAN solutions which are making it easier for IT managers to take advantage of technologies that work together."
"StorageTek recognizes JNI's commitment to quality, reliability, customer service and its partners. Combined with the excellent performance of the FibreStar SBus adapters, JNI was an easy choice as one of our SANaps OEM suppliers," said Don Kleinschnitz, vice president, strategy and alliances for SAN Operations, StorageTek.
The JNI FCx-1063 HBA will be bundled with StorageTek SANaps solutions available from StorageTek. Other JNI HBAs in the FibreStar family include the recently announced FCE-3210, 32-bit and the FCE-6410, 64-bit PCI-to-Fibre Channel adapters.
These new host bus adapters are the first to use Emerald III(TM), a JNI proprietary architecture that is based on the Fibre Channel intellectual property and patents the technology acquired from Adaptec Corp. (Nasdaq:ADPT).
The Emerald III offers customers new features that simplify the installation of HBA cards in SAN configurations. For more product information or information on JNI authorized resellers, contact JNI at 858/535-3121 or at www.jni.com.
About Fibre Channel
Fibre Channel is an ANSI technology standard that allows data to be transferred from one network node to another at rates up to 200 MB/second. Fibre Channel's characteristics include multigigabit throughput and high-data integrity which makes it perfect for fault-tolerant and mission-critical applications.
Its scalable architecture; compatibility with a variety of network and bus protocols, including TCP/IP, ATM, Ethernet, SCSI and HIPPI; along with flexibility to work over copper or fiber optic cabling at distances up to 10 kilometers also make it ideal for multibuilding, campus or even metropolitan area networks.
Fibre Channel products are the enabling technology behind SANs, one of the hottest trends in computing today that decouples storage from servers to improve business application performance and help companies meet shrinking backup windows.
About StorageTek
StorageTek is the preeminent provider of network storage. The company's strategy is to provide "Open, Intelligent and Integrated"(TM) solutions that combine storage products, storage management software and storage services.
StorageTek solutions help customers collect, move, store, share and protect all types of digital content on platforms ranging from laptops to enterprise servers. The company, with headquarters in Louisville, reported revenue of $2.3 billion in 1998. Information on StorageTek is available on the World Wide Web at www.storagetek.com or phone 800/786-7835.
