>> You lost me here. I have WIN98 on my computer. Can't I copy what I need from the WIN98 disk I have to a floppy and bring it to my b-i-l's?<<

Definitely. I had forgotten you owned w98. You can just use your w98 startup disk instead of the win95 one. Try booting to it before you go, to make sure it works. And make sure you've got at least FDISK and FORMAT on it. It gives you three options for how you want to proceed --

Start Windows 98 with CD ROM support
Start Windows 98 without CD ROM support
Install Windows 98 from CD.

Even though you're doing Win95 this will work for you. Just choose
Start Windows 98 with CD ROM support
and then at the a> type in D:\setup (where D: is your CD ROM).

The win95 startup disks had two problems (at least the ones I've ever used): They were not "sys"-ed and they didn't have the CD ROM drivers on them so that any neophyte like myself was totally dead in the water and thinking life was a conspiracy (rightly so). It was a great revelation when some tech support person told me how to "sys" a disk. eom

Or bring your computer with you...

>>his computer is a Pentium 100 with only 32 meg<<

Oh. Well, probably better to let it fade gracefully. (Were they beige and boxy back then?)

Good luck!
