<<what Alberthal, Rudin, and the rest of the crew did to EDS >>
I worked with all these guys before and during the GM purchase in 1984 and I still don't understand what the hell went wrong - but it appears that they all had some sort of a major personality change. Fernandes and I used to beat up on the operational guys (Alberthal included) to keep SG&A under 4% so that we could be competitive on new business. Alberthal delivered and ran a very tight ship. When I heard Fernandes make statements in the quarterly conference calls to the effect that 11% SG&A was an industry accepted load it just blew my mind. But I have never had to run a $14B business as a CEO so maybe there is a strong case for term limits on senior management.
