To All "Welcome" Habitues:

On Sunday, July 11th I committed a crime against the State and posted an enthusiastic letter concerning the company with a phase III AIDS vaccine, VaxGen.

My letter was pulled by SI.

As a result, you have all missed the 37% move in the stock since Monday morning. If I were you I would be mad.

Let me say that I help moderate a VaxGen thread on SI. I am a newbie to SI and joined recently to help people interpret the complex science of VaxGen. I do this because I am a believer. Yes, I am an investor; but more than that -- and I know this is hard to accept given the cynicism you have all displayed to me recently -- I believe in the company, the science, and the CEO (Dr. Don Francis). I do not work for VaxGen.

I wrote an enthusiastic post about VaxGen Sunday night on this thread (perhaps it was too enthusiastic, but we'll never know because SI pulled it) because, to me, the company was overlooked (just went IPO) and those who didn't read the prospectus carefully might not have realized that Paul Allen owns 8% of the company.

After posting the message, I received a raft of vitriolic responses from SI Storm Troopers (any of you out there?) all of whom immediately assumed I was a shill.

Without talking to me, or querying me, SI pulled the post.

As a result, you all have missed out on a 37% move since Monday morning. That ain't insignificant money.

I really don't understand this forum or this medium. Have you all banded together to form a tight-knit community of monolithic thinkers who are unable to take the challenge to discriminate spam from advice? And have you enlisted the services of a Big Brother--whom you PAY for this service -- to arbitrarily remove posts IT considers unworthy of the thread? And what are you missing out on as a result? Are we not on these threads to discover investment opportunities? Do you want SI deciding which opportunities are worthy to be read by you?

If so -- you need another site. Or you need a sychophant to write you pablum about stocks and opportunities that are already gone or out of reach. In other words, go back to the print medium -- I thought we were in cyberspace to pick out the information that hasn't made it to press yet. Like my Sunday night post.

Part of the challenge in investing is sniffing out the spam from the real advice, doing your own research, asking questions and deciding, in your own little brilliant mind, which alleyway leads to success. As with everything else in life there are a million wrong-ways for every right way. But if you let SI filter out the mix, you yourself will NEVER be able to sort the wheat from the chaff.

But you all seem to be participating in this scheme, not wanting anything to interupt the seclusion of your thread where you can learn little useful and nothing new, where you need SOMEONE ELSE to decide what is newsworthy and what you should be thinking about. Back to MONEY magazine!

My apologies for rolling a marble into your universe,
