Shust, I have been following the MMG/PLDI merger. A good way to get MMG stock cheap would to be to buy PLDI. PLDI looks to be taken out for over $4 a share with MMG stock (assuming MMG holds near 8). Thanks for the tip on MMG. I might look at it closer. MMG looks to have some high power names behind it.
I like your targets on LUKOY and ROS! I agree, long term there is so much money to be made here! My initial short term targets were $100 for LUKOY and $20 for ROS. I basically need around 100% to get near both targets. At those targets I was thinking of selling some over a period of time, (since I am overweight in Russian stocks right now). But, I definitely want to keep lots of ROS and LUKOY for the very long haul. These are definitely the kind of stocks that can have the big returns long term IMHO.
Oil prices are playing right into Russia's hand. Brent is near $19!!! hard to believe, I was hoping for $14 sometime this year. This has to just be great for Russia and speed up their recovery. What is even better about oil is that I have been reading that there may be much higher prices in the not so distant future. The IEA is talking about a shortage at the end of 1999 if OPEC doesn't not start pumping more. But longer term there are arguments that the world is running out of cheap oil and the price of oil will have to rise to show this. Considering Russia has a lot of oil and that it average production cost is around $2 a barrel now, Russia seems a great place to invest right now !!
