Don't know but I've heard that we all can be traced to 1 woman, (dna) that theory may be out of date?

It is current. Best guesses are that we shared a common female ancestor somewhere between 125,000 and 200,000 years ago. This common Mama<g> is called, unsurprisingly, "Eve" (not "Lucy" as the next post suggests; Lucy is a name of a particular set of early human remains).

It appears that the 30 or so attempts to make good in various human-style branches of chimpanzee stock were all wiped out or assimilated by Eve's descendants -- us. And, as was said, we were indeed all Africans not so very long ago.
