Hi John,
I've had laser eye surgery done on both my eyes (at the same sitting) in Jan 97. IT WAS THE BEST THING I'VE EVER DONE! Money well spent.
The procedure itself took about 30 minutes. For the first week you have to wear protective lens, etc and take a regimen of pills and drops. The drops continue for about a month. These, of course, promote healing.
I saw results after the first week and the improvement continued fairly rapidly in the first month. By the end of the first year, I had nearly perfect vision ... 20/25. The only drawback is a slight fuzziness of things in the far, far distance.
One "side effect" of this surgery, for me anyways, is a sensitivity to light. Even as I sit here in my office, I'm having to squint because it's a little too bright. On overcast days, I wear my sunglassess. Don't get me wrong, it's not as if it's a major problem, etc, it's just a little uncomfortable at times when in the past, it wasn't.
Some people experience severe pain after the surgery, I had a little irritation that felt like some sand under my eyelids. Virtually no pain at all.
Don't know what more I can offer you. Please feel free to ask any questions.
Cheers, Rory. |
