Softlink's eMail VOICELink Included With Cyber Acoustics' Popular 1999 MMS 15 Speaker
SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 14, 1999--
With eMail VOICELink software users add audio to email --
now heard with superior speaker from Cyber Acoustics
Softlink, Inc. (OTC BB:SFLK) today announced the bundling of eMail VOICELink(TM) with Cyber Acoustics' 1999 MMS 15 two-piece speaker.
Cyber Acoustics will supply Circuit City, Comp USA, and Ingram Micro with the powerful combination beginning this month.
Cyber Acoustics will begin shipping its MMS 15 speakers with a trial version of eMail VOICELink, the leading software that adds voice and sound to regular text-based email. Users can easily record their message rather than typing, adding personality and clarity to their on-line communication. Once the message is recorded, it's sent through the user's email client. Purchasers of Cyber Acoustics MMS 15 speakers can now begin using the multimedia capabilities of eMail VOICELink.
"The MMS 15 is the hottest selling 1999 two piece speaker in the market. There is incredible demand for the product," said Dave Dietz, president of Cyber Acoustics. "Now we're able to offer the added value of eMail VOICELink to our customers. The consumer gets more for their money by adding this timely product to the offering. People who purchase speakers are interested in sound -- email is becoming ubiquitous. Now we combine audio email with high quality speaker capabilities. What a combination!"
Softlink's proprietary compression technology dramatically reduces the size of multimedia messages -- at a rate greater than 50:1 over similar packages. Users need not worry that messages composed with VOICELink will impact their email servers. A free player, which serves as a read-only viewer, is included with the first multimedia message users receive. The small 240K player then remains on their system to play back any other VOICELink messages sent via email.
"This is a natural fit for a bundling arrangement," said William Yuan, president of Softlink. "Speakers are the hardware needed for sound. VOICELink is the software needed for communicating through the Internet with sound. We're looking forward to continuing and expanding our bundling programs with Cyber Acoustics."
