Savant,

Thanks for the clarification on the nature of codecs (compression/coder and decompression/decoder software).

This clarifies the statement in the 6/28/99 press release about Texas Instruments, Liquid Audio, Fraunhofer and SanDisk teaming to offer a new SDMI player design:

"TI, the world leader in DSP, will provide DSPs and a complete library of software decoders"

I assume that TI has decoders for the major audio compression formats.
The big issue for e.Digital is whether that library includes EPAC.

Burt seems to feel that e.Digital has exclusive control over the use of EPAC in handheld devices. I have seen nothing to suggest otherwise but the ability of Texas Instruments or other DSP manufacturers to process audio files under multiple compression systems without e.Digital is obviously a primary concern to the audio-market related equity valuation of e.Digital.

Dave,

To give proper credit to a fine post on Raging Bull, the "What Are The Odds?" message was originated by Wayne777 last night (#42176). I only know this because I spend far too much time reading all of the message boards on this stock.

Best regards,

Jim
