The point Mike, is that the primary purpose of some companies is to sell stock to the public....Please take notice that this statement is not made about any specific company, nor is it meant to imply or cause anyone to infer that any specific company is a stock distribution scheme. What in the world then do you mean to imply, Mom? GUMM avoided selling shares to raise capital recently....Dale's comments in a later post suggest that 3M shares have "leaked"....The history of this company is an open book. Do your dd and see if GUMM is guilty of "selling shares"... Not the case.
