Compaq's New CEO May Come From TRW Ranks, Houston Paper Says
Houston, July 14 (Bloomberg) -- Compaq Computer Corp.'s search for a new chief executive is focusing on an executive with ties to TRW Inc. -- most likely Peter Hellman, TRW's former president and chief operating officer, the Houston Chronicle reported. The candidate met last week with Compaq Chairman Ben Rosen and two other board members who are overseeing company operations, among others. Compaq declined comment on its search for a new CEO to replace Eckhard Pfeiffer, who was fired in April.
Houston-based Compaq, the world's biggest personal computer maker, said last month it will lose as much as 15 cents a share in the second quarter on falling PC prices and higher costs.
