John, I do not know if you are a myope (nearsighted) or a hyperope (farsighted). If you are a hyperope, you might consider waiting until the LTK procedure from Sunrise Technologies (SNRS) is approved by the FDA. They will get a recommendation for approval next week by FDA's Ophthalmic Devices Panel and should be approved two to six months after that.

The reason I say this is that the LTK procedure is a much less invasive procedure and has a much better safety profile than LASIK for hyperopia.

I was treated with LTK more than 5 years ago in Canada and I am a happy customer as well as investor. While I own many LVC stocks (VISX, BEAM, LASE, LCAV, OHSI, GBL, and in the past KERA), the biggest part of my portfolio is SNRS. Part of the reason being my first-hand experience with their LTK.

With LTK, heat is generated with a laser that gently warms the corneal collagen and causes it to shrink. This is done in the periphery of the cornea and the shrinking changes the radius of curvature thereby correcting vision. Currently it is only used for hyperopia in the range of +.5 to +2.5 diopters but they are expanding the range out to +4.0 diopters. They will also be treating hyperopia with astigmatism in the future.

Anyway if you are a hyperope, you might consider this approach. They have a website:

sunrise-tech.com

Good luck,

Joe
