Here'some more info. on VHPM's pleconaril that most of you are probably not aware of. Pleconaril did NOT originate with VPHM. It is a drug that has been under development for at least 8 years (perhaps much longer) and was originally discovered by scientists at Sterling Winthrop Pharmaceuticals (most of whom now work for VPHM). Sterling Winthrop was a small drug company owned by Kodak. In 1994, Kodak sold off Sterling Winthrop in bits and pieces and the prescription drug business was bought by Sanofi, a french drug maker. Sanofi had dibs on pleconaril but decided to out license it to former Sterling scientists when they decided to form VPHM because they were obviously not impressed with it's potential as a drug. However, I would be surprised if Sanofi didn't still have some licensing rights to any profits that may result from pleconaril, if it gets approved. I'll have to look through VPHM's SEC filings to see if this is true.
