although it is probably the top achievement in any womens sporting event in 20 years or so Tell that to Lindsey Davenport and Dominique Moceanu. There is no comparison Bill. Team sports are an entirely different animal anyway. For the last 20 years it seems like every other startup company I am involved with plays that "do you believe in miracles" film about the US hockey team in 1980. The point is that these rookies pulled together and with teamwork defeated the arch enemy (subtext being the enemy was impeded by arrogance and lack of teamwork). During the 1980 winter olympics like all winter olympics the womens ice skaking was the main draw. Notice there is no women's ice skating professional cicuit now is there? But anyway you didn't see the women skaters in 1980 lambasting and trivializing the US men's hockey win, now did you? Women's skating is bigger, will always be bigger than olympic hockey. Imagine if Katarina Witt had made a bunch of public statements regarding the triviality of the win, how olympic hockey is meaningless, blah blah. You would have thought she had an ego related problem. Thats what I think you have.
