Charles,

Re: "via and gobi etc"

I simply don't believe that Gobi will exist in Q3 at speeds of >400Mhz in Q3 so it will not be a threat. In Q4 it is remotely possible.

Regarding the conf call:

1. I thought they did an excellent job of snowing the analysts - who probably wanted to latch onto anything positive due their missed calls.

2. It looks like demand in Q2 was the real problem with a bad europe.
Jerry in conf call had stated this as well.
I suspect Q3 is truly looking much better and thats why they have taken the risk with stuffing a couple of million chips out (assuming a $200 ASP).

3. They have clearly done a truly impressive job of cost control.

4. Also with 8 way Xeon systems shipping in Q3 this should also give Q3 a boost earnings wise.

Overall - I would say a very tough quarter and they did OK considering.

As far as flattening of the ASP curves - yes I see this happening as well. I suspect they will easily meet or exceed the reduced expectations for Q3/Q4.

The big issue will be coppermine vs K7 battle starting Q1 next year. Volumes of each will be low enough in Q4 where they will sell everything they can make at excellent margins.

Regards,

Kash
