Let's see... selling as many products as possible is a bad thing? Okay... I realize that 3dfx probably makes less an OEM board than a retail board, but this is only a "option", not shipped with every box of that model Compaq sells. If CPQ or 3DFX was all that concerned about the quantities available, neither would have done it. Remember, having demand for a product is better than not having it. STBI had a long history of supplying CPQ with graphics boards, whether it was for the MVP line for Workstation products (S3 parts, Nvida parts) or the consumer line (TNT). Last I checked, CPQ was still a Top Five OEM, and with V3 available from DELL, CPQ and GTW, even if they are small deals, they are major OEMs.
