Telos Awarded $250 Million GSA Blanket Purchase Agreement For Infrastructure Protection Solutions

ASHBURN, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 14, 1999--

Under GSA Program SAFEGUARD, Telos to help protect U.S. information

infrastructure from cyber threats

Telos(R) Corporation, the global provider of e-Solutions for Connected Enterprises(TM), today announced it has been awarded a blanket purchase agreement (BPA) by the General Services Administration's (GSA) Office of Information Security to deliver information security solutions to all federal agencies. The GSA's Program SAFEGUARD BPA has an estimated maximum value of $250 million over a four-year period.

Richard Krauss, the GSA Program Manager for Program SAFEGUARD, said that the threat of cyber-attacks is real and growing, and that solutions providers such as Telos can help mitigate the danger. "Every day, the media carries stories of government Web sites that have been attacked or data systems that have been threatened, and the number of attacks is growing. Under Program SAFEGUARD, Telos will be helping us find and fix vulnerabilities in our systems and providing us with the ability to stop cyber-attacks before they cause irreparable damage."

According to Rick Tracy, Director of Information Assurance Operations for Telos, the company's depth of experience is crucial to supporting support Program SAFEGUARD. "We've been implementing security solutions for years in the most demanding environment in the world...the U.S. Department of Defense. We've also helped many other agencies and commercial organizations protect their critical systems."

Tracy added, "With the current push toward what's being called "electronic government", security is crucial. Telos' Impervia(TM) line of information assurance solutions support the government's e-commerce initiatives by allowing intelligent access to data. In short, our customers can give data access only to authorized personnel, while keeping out prying eyes."

Program SAFEGUARD was created as a direct response to Presidential Decision Directive (PDD) 63, which mandates a reliable, interconnected, and secure information system infrastructure for the federal government by the year 2003. Under PDD 63, all government systems are mandated to have a significant improvement to security by 2000. The BPA is open to the entire U.S. government.

In support of the program's goals, Telos' Impervia(TM) information assurance solutions will provide a range of information assurance solutions, including development of PDD 63 action plans, vulnerability assessment and testing, critical infrastructure asset identification, continuity and contingency planning, and information systems security.
