Is your concern here that 72 hours was too short a period and that the authors of the study may be missing something by stopping the experiment at this stage? <<The monkey sepsis model is very drastic, infusing lots of bacteria in the veins, it was modified for the bpi experiment.>> Modified to make it less drastic?? <<but they also proof much lower levels of citokines,tnf,paf (down regulation of the inflammatory pathway)...>> Interesting indeed, if BPI is not doing this by reducing LPS levels, by what mechanism is this happening? Or can one track everything back to simply killing the bacteria perhaps more rapidly than possible with other antibiotics (thanks bluegreen for that insight)?
