$Mogul, To compare the four companies -- I like to look at their client list, which of course, I don't feel like typing here...but are probably available on their internet sites.

In order of client pedigree, I would rank them:

1) Exodus (Yahoo!, Hotmail, GeoCities, BUY.com, CyberianOutpost)
2) AboveNet (Netcenter, Marimba, bunch of others)
3) Interliant
4) Digital Island

The customers that need these services are reliant on high network availablity and high speed. So reputation definately helps retain and keep customers. Customers gives revenue, which gives earnings! Yeah for earnings!

The above list may (of course) change in the coming years, but it almost doesn't matter. I mean investing in these companies now is like investing in Dell, Gateway, or Compaq in the 1990.

The problem is that ABOV has been bought and so it's taken out of the equation. So it's either a market leader (by far) or small guy, there's no value play among the 3.

I have to admit, I don't know very much about Interliant, but I had heard of them before I had heard of Digital Island, so I'm pretty sure they have a better revenue stream and client list. Someone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

David
