Orbital Sciences Unit, J.B. Hunt In Tracking Svc Pact
DULLES, Va. -- Orbital Sciences Corp.'s (ORB) Vantage Tracking Solutions affiliate will
provide OrbComm Global L.P.'s trailer tracking services for J.B. Hunt Transport Services
Inc.'s (JBHT) fleet of trailers and containers.
Financial terms weren't disclosed.
In a press release Tuesday, Vantage Tracking said the companies plan to begin a
partnership to develop a tracking system for J.B. Hunt's container fleet, consisting of
about 60% of the company's entire fleet.
J.B. Hunt, which will begin installing Vantage Tracking's system this month, will use the
tracking services to improve fleet productivity and efficiency, the company said.
Van Tracking's system will indicate trailer/container location and status using J.B.
Hunt's fleet management system through the OrbComm LEO satellite network, Vantage
Tracking said.
J.B. Hunt, Lowell, Ark., is a transportation logistics company with 35,000 trailers and
containers.
OrbComm, a joint venture between Orbital Sciences and Teleglobe Inc. (TGO) of
Canada, operates the Vantage Tracking unit.
Orbital Sciences provides small- and mid-sized satellites.
