Here come the lawsuits....I'm sure glad EDIG is not alone in their venture (Lucent). ** Audiohighway gets patent on digital audio device Audio content provider Audiohighway.com (AHWY) revealed today it was issued a U.S. patent on portable devices that record and play back digital audio recordings from the Internet. The patent application was submitted in 1995 and the patent awarded in late June of this year. According to the company, it started to develop a portable digital audio player that allows users to select and download any type of digital audio content in 1994. The company developed its own "Listen Up" digital audio recording and playing device in 1997. More than 30 companies, including Diamond Multimedia Systems Inc. (DIMD) are shipping or intend to ship portable digital audio players this year, the company said. Audiohighway believes that the patent entitles it to compensation for each such player sold.
