I saw that SKB's FlexSure HP test received a CLIA waiver. Actually, this is the 3rd company to receive a CLIA waiver on an H.pylori test. As I understand, QDEL was the first and some other company (quite small and whose name I do not remember) received the 2nd. SmithKline's Flexsure may be a formidable competitor with a lot of marketing muscle but I think the QDEL test still has some advantages- the SKB Flexsure test is actually a 3 step test w/ a room temperature shelf storage life of 30 days according to the press release- I'm not sure about Qdel's shelf life but I think it is substantially longer than 30 days - also Qdel test is a 1 step, not a 3 step, test. Qdel also has P+G to help promote it. This is a big and growing market and , in any event, I suspect both QDEL and FlexSure will do quite well
