ASP'll slip to $55;k7 won't ship in vol till nxt yr;Atiq resigning
Advanced Micro Devices (AMD 18 +15/16): Well the good news is that the Company managed to beat lowered expectations, which ranged from a loss of $1.26 to a loss of $1.37, by a wide margin... The bad news, though, is that AMD didn't give investors much to look forward to as it noted that due to competition from Intel, further gains in revenue growth or unit market share for its K6-2 microprocessor were unlikely, and unfortunately, its K-7 chip isn't expected to ship in large volumes until at least the end of the year... In addition, avg. selling prices are expected to slip to the mid-$50 range in Q3, down from $67 in Q2 and $78 in Q1-- not good for a company that saw K6 unit sales slip in Q2 to 3.7 mln from 4.3 mln in Q1 ... Also reported that its President, COO, and CTO, Atiq Raza, is resigning for personal reasons. From Briefing.com
