Kap,

<What is your take on CC, Raza?>

I thought the conf call went very well - this is the first time in a long time that I can remember analysts asking positive "feel" questions. I think it is just starting to sink into people what 1Mu Athlons at $300+ GM can do to the bottom line. Especially when 1Mu is the floor with respect to production capacity.

I was a little disappointed with Dredsen status but not by much - the progress is encouraging but I would have liked to see some production (SRAM or K6 or K7) in Q4 this year.

The big negative was losing Reza. As I have said a few times on this thread before, I have only heard good things about Reza and that makes a him pretty rare commodity in this biz. I am sure we will here stories about why he left pretty soon. Let's see.

I was a bit surprised that Athlon varients for the $600 PC will not show up until mid-2000. I was expecting to see them by Q1. This indicates a longer than expected life for the K6. It is beyond me why AMD would like to ship K6s beyond Q3/Q4 if their forecasted ASPs in Q3 are mid-50s. One possible explanation is that they are moving up in speed grades but I do not feel warm and fuzzy about that happening. I would have liked to get a little bit more detail on this aspect but I was surprised that very few K6 questions were asked. I think understanding what AMD will do with K6 would have told a lot about where AMD is going with K7.

Chuck
