SurferM <...The value of a network increases exponentially with the number of users on the net: get customers by the bushel load and our stock price will reflect that value. NO customers and we ain't going to Disneyland, CDMA, bent pipe or blah blah blah...>

True enough, but there is a slight logical error there. The value of a segregated, standalone network is a function of the users and connections. But in Globalstar's case, the network is the total world's voice telecommunications system and who owns which bit of it is irrelevant for valuing the network effect.

So the value of Globalstar doesn't benefit from that magical effect of network numbers increase as subscriber numbers increase. It is the more prosaic unit cost reduction effect. Which is very important, but not the same thing.

Sorry if this seems a bit pedantic. The real value of Globalstar is the amazing 'transient monopoly' in a worldwide, highly popular, wide coverage, voice communication system it will have over the next 10 years. To pinch a phrase from George Gilder .

PS: Rajala, while Mr Miethe was rude to our poetic correspondent, your jumping into the sandpit and biffing sand around doesn't help people have a nice day as they say in the USA. I do agree with you that lamb and mint sauce is a favoured comestible of mine, but our common bond doesn't extend to Steinlager. Are you as rude to your neighbours, colleagues and family as you are to people here? If so, why? In fact, why are you rude to people here? It reflects more poorly on you than it does on the people you denigrate. I'll have to send you to Michael of "Sure is a nice day" fame for happiness training.

Say each day just before breakfast, "This is going to be a great day and I'm going to love everyone I see." Then give the first 10 people you see a great big hug! Be careful if they are attractive young women because you wouldn't want them to get the wrong idea. Or their husbands.
