>>A true auction<< vs.>>a manipulated hype selling mechanism disguised as "an auction" to sell stuff to buyers (in many cases buyers that aren't aware of all the tricks being played by sellers).<<

I have the same questions. I believe an auction site which also educates consumers to pitfalls and answers these concerns can leap-frog the rest. Perhaps this is being done and I am ignorant of it.

I am looking for answers because my mother expressed interest in selling a Babe Ruth autograph on E-Bay where she felt their high visibility might garner the best price. I wonder if a specialist in baseball memorabilia promoting a special event might attract more attention of knowledgeable bidders.

Auctions are like poker games where an education in the rules, customs and strategies can be costly. The veterans will always have the advantage.
